Working hours

The library is open according to the following schedule:

Department of Biology: Monday – Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m
Department of Physics: Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (reading room: every weekday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Department of Geography: every working day from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m
Department of Chemistry: working hours will be set later
Department of mathematics: every working day from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (reading room until 3:00 p.m.)

Terms of use

For users who are not staff or students of the Faculty of Science, University of Sarajevo, there are special conditions for using the fund.

For certain publications (archival copies, old and rare books, damaged publications, etc.) there are special conditions of use for all users.

History, mission and vision

The library was founded in 1960 as part of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the University of Sarajevo. She took over the collection of the Library of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo, which was related to the fields of natural and mathematical sciences. In the period 1992-1995. in 2010, the fund suffered considerable damage. After the war, parts of the funds of institutes and societies that operated at the Faculty of Science of the University of Sarajevo or in cooperation with the Faculty were integrated into the Library's fund.

Today, the Library has over 110,000 volumes in the field of natural and mathematical sciences. The fund consists of several units: monographic publications, periodicals, reference literature and special collections.

The library has a collection of bachelor's and master's theses and doctoral dissertations defended at the Faculty in the period from 1954 to the present day. It also has a significant part of Bosnian related to natural and mathematical sciences. The library has a collection of geographic maps in the Geography Department.

Mission – The library is organized as a modern library and information center in the field of natural and mathematical sciences, which collects, stores, organizes, makes available and promotes library material from the aforementioned fields. Thus, it actively participates in the teaching and scientific research processes of its users.

Vision – The library strives to contribute to the development of natural and mathematical sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as participate in the preservation of the cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
